Welcome Campers!
Camp Jitterbug is finally here and we are so excited for this year’s event!! We have record attendance and dancers from all over the world attending. Here are some details to remember as well as some important updates. Remember, all of the details for the weekend are found at campjitterbug.com.
Jump Session Show Tickets
Now that we are in a much larger theatre this year, we have some tickets still available for sale. Tickets can be purchased at campjitterbug.com…just look for the JS ticket link. Tickets will also be available at the door for purchase. This is truly a magical part of the weekend, so don’t miss out!!
Online Registration closes May 19th
We are closing online registration on May 19th. If you want to register after May 19th, you will need to show up at the door, space permitting.
Tracks and waiting lists for follows
This year we are follow heavy, so we have closed registration to follows in the Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced tracks. We will allow follows to register IF they have a lead register with them or space permitting if there are some no-shows. This can be done at the door on Friday or Saturday registration and check in times.
Competitions and waiting lists
UPDATE: Jack & Jill and Lindy Hop Couples competitions are sold out!
Campers who have registered on the website for the competition(s) will get their numbers in their registration packets. Non-camper competitors who have registered via the website will have their numbers held at registration on Friday. After that all numbers will be held with the Competition Coordinator, Sheri Yau, the night of the competition.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Lindy Hop Couples and Jack and Jill Competitors MUST CHECK-IN for each competition ONE HOUR prior to the scheduled time of the competition or their spots will be released!! By 1/2 hour prior to the competition, any open spots will be given to those on the waitlist. Therefore, anyone who has registered on the waitlist should check in 30 minutes before the competition starts to see if they will be called to compete that night. For the Solo Charleston contest, competitors just need to check-in when they arrive at the late night party. Any questions or concerns, please direct them to Sheri Yau at
competitions@campjitterbug.com. Thanks and GOOD LUCK!!!
How to get to Friday Registration and Check In
Friday evening’s events (registration & check-in, the Red Square Jam, the Jump Session Show and the evening dance) are located in the University District. Once you receive your packets, there will be maps for you, but here are some directions on how to get from Capitol Hill to the U District for the initial registration and check-in.
To get to UW Campus from I-5 North or Southbound
. Take the exit for NE 45th St
. Turn East onto NE 45th St
. Turn right at 15th Ave NE
. Turn left on NE 41th St into the garage
. Paid parking is available for Jump Session, the weekend dances fall under the UW Complimentary Parking provisions. The lot closest to Kane Hall is a parking garage labeled C1-C5 Central Plaza Parking Garage. Parking is $5 in the evening, free after 12pm on Saturday, and free Sundays and Holidays.
. The entrance to C1-C5 is at 15th Ave NE and 41st St, there is a stoplight to get into the garagem and the fastest way to get from Kane Hall to the HUB is by walking directly behind the libraries on the trails. The path will be marked with Camp Jitterbug signs.
Bus Options: The bus runs regularly throughout Seattle, and costs only $1.50 one way. Below are the options for getting to UW, getting from UW to Late Night, and then back to Capitol Hill, where the hotel is located.
Capitol Hill to UW Campus - you can take Routes 43 or 49- they run every 15 minutes, with various stops along Broadway, and drop you off on 15th Ave NE, across from Campus, near Kane Hall.
UW HUB to Washington Dance Club - you can catch Route 71 or 72 at University Way NE and NE 41st St. It will drop you off at Stewart St and 9th Ave, less than one block from WDC.
Washington Dance Club to Capitol Hill - you can take Route MT 83 from Fairview Ave N and Valley, transfer to Route MT 84 at 4th and University, and it will drop you off at E Pine St and Madison. This is the Night Owl Bus loop, and runs until 3am.
Parking in Seattle - Street parking is free Monday thru Saturday after 6pm and all day on Sundays and Holidays. There are paid lots throughout the city that range in price from as low as $5. Please note that free parking on Capitol Hill can be difficult to find, and parking at the Naval Armory is limited, so carpool when possible!
We need more hosts!!
Our Seattle locals have been so generous with hosting our out of towners this year. We have record numbers in attendance so there is still a need for some more hosts. If you can spare a couch or floor space, please email Max at
housing@campjitterbug.com.
