Because we never did this over the weekend I think this would be the second best place to recognize everything Michael has done for HSF and the UI swing dance club. He has put his heart and soul into this club and this event and I don't think anyone can deny that he has done an amazing job. Without Michael there would be no Hawkeye Swing Festival and who knows if there would even be a club. His hard work, patience and passion for swing have given Iowa City (and Iowa as a whole) a swing scene they should be proud of. I would like to thank him on behalf of everyone for the countless hours of teaching, planning and networking that he has put in to make all this possible. You have done an amazing job Mikey, I hope you know how grateful we are for all you do.

Evening* is SO right! Michael has done a ton to push the swing scene forward in this state. We now have a wonderful festival drawing instructors, competitors, and of course, social dancers, from all over the region. Other events with similar aspirations are on the rise in the state and gaining momentum as well. HSF3 was a culmination of what Michael has done in the past as well as the support he has gained. It was a great representation of the combined efforts of many, many swing dancers, past and present, from all over. So while I feel it's important to keep looking forward to continue to improve our state of swing, it's also just as important, if not more, to fully appreciate and value the work that has already been done to lead to these successes. If we don't enjoy the here and now, then why work so hard for it?

So, great job to all, especially Michael the instigator!

Better late than never, I guess. I agree with everything already said. Without Michael the event wouldn't be what it is today. But let us not forget the rest of the Iowa City dancers who put there hearts and hard work in as well. Thanks to everyone for a wonderful event.
