It seems like a long time since we've had one of these, but it's only been a month. The last one was during a blizzard. But the Step Into Swing First Saturday Jitterbug will be held next Saturday night, January 5th, at the Des Moines Ballroom Dance Studio. 8-11. $5 at the door. Free snacks and refreshments. Hope to see lots o' folks there.

Last night was a blast! Steve K (I got is right this time) from Omaha came over for a jumping good time at First Saturday Jitterbug. Great music, fun dancing and a good time had by all. A lot of new people and few of the regulars. Even learned a few new moves! It was (as Swingdaddy would say) awwwwwwwwwsome! Looking forward to Thursday night Swing Social.

We are already making plans for our February First Saturday Jitterbug dance. Yes, I know it is valentines day month. But I would like to come up with a variation of the sweet heart theme for those poeple who don't have a regular "sweetie". Any ideas will be welcome.

Mardi Gras is Feb 5th

The Westminster Kennel Club 130th Annual Dog Show is Monday and Tuesday, February 11-12

February is:
* American Heart Month
* Black History Month
* Library Lovers Month
* National Lactose Intolerance Awareness Month (Canada)
* National School Counseling Week (first week, United States)
* National Children's Dental Health Month

My vote is for a Lactose Intolerance Awareness dance. NO dairy!

I enjoy the idea that February is National Children's Dental Health Month even though kids often get showered with candy for Valentine's Day at school and sometimes by their parents. Slightly ironic in my opinion. At least it's not October.

interesting...............I haven't picked a theme yet, just come and have a good time. Some will be dressed up, some in jeans. Just come and we will surprise you. There will be a birthday jam, we forgot some people last month, so we will combine January and February brithday jams on the 2nd. See you all there!

I think last night was my first night out dancing since the Lindy Blizzard and man, did I need that. It was a great time. It's so cool to see so many people out dancing in Des Moines.
