MinnesotaLindy, Shawn Lavelle, and Jason Zabinski present a series of Workshops and classes from Peter Strom, Nina Gilkenson, Jason Zabinski, and Kelli Wilkerson. A challenge to you, to the instructors: motivate, energize, expand, dance! It's the kind of challenge we all enjoy, yea?

We've hired Peter Strom to kick off our Challenge Month with a workshop and Nina Gilkenson to cap it off 4 weeks later. Jason Zabinski and Kelli Wilkerson will provide a 4-week bridge between the workshops that will tie them together. As Peter will focus on the guys, Nina will focus on the gals.

here's some details.

Peter is teaching 7 classes over January 5 and 6.
Nina is teaching 7 classes over February 2 and 3.
Jason and Kelli are teaching 4 classes Mondays, January 7, 14, 21, 28.

Workshop Concepts: Challenge ability. Challenge mentality. Challenge idleness. Challenge instructors. Challenge you. What does Peter want from follows? What does Nina want from Leads? Nina Bad Ass Swivels. Peter's wisdom for guys. Nina's wisdom for gals. Bridge it all with Jason and Kelli's classes in January.

Hello Everyone!
Just a reminder that the Lindy Challenge begins in 6 days! 6! That's Friday night. The opening dance and Jack and Jill contest is Friday, January 4th!

This dance is hosted at Jawaahir Dance Studio, starting at 9pm and is included in your registration fee, the jack and jill is an additional 5$ with all proceeds going toward the prize purse. For those of you not attending Peter's workshop, you can still come -- admission at the door is 5$. Jason Zabinski and Katie Gumpertz will DJ from 9 to 1am and may be a post-dance gathering until 3am -- check the desk Friday for details.

Don't forget, we've added an opening dance to Nina's workshop as well! (February 1st.) This dance will also include a contest, but not a jack and jil -- a strictly Lindy. This is a contest where you choose your partner and prepare in advance. It focuses on musicality, performance, showmanship, etc -- but no aerials, no flash n' trash like that -- just good dancing. This contest is 15$, but if you sign up on January 4th, it's only 10$. (Can't make it jan 4? Shoot me a note and we'll work it out.) Again, all contest entry proceeds will go directly to the prize purse, which MNLindy is seeding with 200$.

How was the Lindy Challenge? We had our First Saturday Swing Dance and work to deal with, wish we could have gone. Princess Cutie is signed up for Nina's wrok shop in February. Wish I could go, but once again work got in the way. I can't wait to see what she learns there. I am so jelous.

Peter Strom was amazing, the TBA critique class a highlight of the weekend. I'm glad so many turned out for the dance and workshop!

Jason and Kelli's classes continue on Monday Nights, from 9 to 10 at Jawaahir Dance Studio. We just finished learning a fast, intricate routine that was just awesome. Next Monday is "Socially Messed Up", a class where Jason wigs you out with awesome, crazy socially leadable moves and the week after that Kelli is going to lead everyone through the Tranky Doo! C'mon out, at 15$ a class these are a steal -- and don't forget about a visit to Sebastien Joe's Ice Cream afterwards!

Finally, last but not least, Nina Gilkenson is coming in two weeks! February 1st opens things up with a dance at Jawaahir featuring MNLindy's first ever Lindy Strictly Contest! Saturday and Sunday Nina's expert instruction will provide great classes at Four Seasons Dance Studio.

As a special added bonus feature, the Robert Bell Hot Swing Combo will be performing Friday Night, for your dancing pleasure! This awesome, prolific band has played at Midwest Lindy Fest and the Ultimate Lindy Hop Showdown, and is booked for the Twin Cities Bal Fest, Hawkeye Swing Fest, and the Twin Cities Rhythm and Jazz Revival.
